Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 3, 2026

The short version. Handover is local-first. You don't create an account, and your clients, jobs, photos and reports are stored on your device — not on our servers. We don't sell your data, and we don't use advertising or tracking SDKs.

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy describes how the Handover mobile application ("Handover", "the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use it. If you have any questions, contact us at support@handover.app.

2. Data you create stays on your device

Handover stores the content you create — clients, jobs, checklists, templates, notes, photos, signatures and generated PDF reports — locally on your device using on-device storage. We do not have a user account system and we do not upload this content to our servers.

Because your data lives on your device, deleting the app (or clearing its data) removes it. We recommend exporting or backing up any reports you want to keep.

3. Device permissions we request

  • Camera — to take proof-of-work photos for your reports. Photos are saved locally.
  • Photo library — to attach existing photos to a report. Access is used only for photos you select.
  • Location — captured only when you tap "Add location proof", to stamp a report with GPS coordinates and to fetch a map and the local weather (see below).
  • Local network — used by Desktop Mode to let a computer on the same Wi-Fi network edit a report. The connection stays on your local network; nothing is sent to us.

You can grant or revoke each permission at any time in your device settings. Denying a permission only disables the related feature.

4. Third-party services

When you use certain features, the app contacts the following services directly from your device. We do not send them your identity or your report content beyond what each feature needs.

  • Weather & geocoding — Open-Meteo. When you add location proof, the coordinates (and, for place search, a text query) are sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve the weather at the time of service and to look up place names. See the Open-Meteo terms.
  • Map tiles — OpenStreetMap. To render the location map on a report, the coordinates are used to request map image tiles from OpenStreetMap. See the OpenStreetMap privacy policy.
  • Subscriptions — RevenueCat. If you purchase or restore Handover Pro, we use RevenueCat to manage the subscription and validate your entitlement. RevenueCat processes a pseudonymous app-generated identifier and purchase receipts. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.
  • Payments — Apple App Store / Google Play. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google under their own terms. We never receive your full payment details.

5. Analytics and tracking

Handover does not include third-party advertising or analytics tracking SDKs, and does not track you across other apps or websites.

6. Children

Handover is a business tool intended for professionals and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction).

7. Data security

Because your content is stored on your device, its security depends largely on your device's own protections (passcode, biometrics, disk encryption). Network requests to the third-party services above are made over encrypted HTTPS connections.

8. Your rights

Since we don't hold your report data on our servers, you remain in control of it on your device — you can view, edit, export or delete it at any time within the app. For questions about data handled by the third-party services above, please refer to their respective privacy policies linked in section 4.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
